Re: is anyone taking Medical Assisting program?

I have been taking it since March, I am almost to my 4th book in the whole program. I am not sure where I am suppose to get my hands on training. I am a military spouse and getting ready to pcs to San Antonio. I read somewhere there is like study groups and flash cards and stuff but I am just now hearing about this. I am not sure how I feel about the program or how prepaired I am going to feel going to work at a Military Medical facility. Anyone who has been in this course and has finsih have any idea? Please !!!

I'm taking the Medical/dental assistant class. And so far I loveeee it. It's so informative, and challenging but not too hard. So far I've gotten all A's on my lesson exams. I couldn't be happier with my decision in choosing this program. =)

I Actually looked into it, this school isnt approved by the AAMA. But once you finish school, you can take 2 parts of it, the last part you cant take until you have had 5 years experience.

Re: is anyone taking Medical Assisting program?

Btw, the website is WWW.AMAA.NTL.org. I already finished the program, I intern at my local hospital. The best thing to do is call, every medical office in your city and see what they have to offer. The one im in requires 4 hours a week in the ER and after so many months, I could get offered a job depending on my efforts and work performed. Best thing to do once your finished is to get a CPR certification or BLS, Find and internship, then decide what type of medical office you want to work in, Mainly because some you may have to be IV cert. Or Phlebomy Cert. Ive even seen them want you to fit a certian size of clothing because you may have to squeeze into tight spaces to clean machines.

Re: is anyone taking Medical Assisting program?

I will check this out. I think there may be some confusion going on. I don't think Ashworth would say you can get certified or it was approved by an organization if they weren't. If nothing else they would be at risk for legal action for lying. Thanks for the link.
