That is an amazing story! I named my daughter Teeghan Ray, the spelling of her middle is the boy version I know, but it is after my brother. My brother's name is David Raymond and he passed away over in Afghanistan in 2009. My sister had a boy 6 weeks before me and named him David. I feel having her middle name Ray will keep him close to Teeghan!

wow you guys have these amazing stories and my husbands family complained about my sons name because we named him after my grandfather whose has been more like a father to me than my own dad... They say it is to ordinary and is an old man name even though he is named after an old man.

I was also told that I could not become pregnant.  When we found out that I was pregnant with our son, we didn't know where to start.  We grabbed some Baby Name books from our library and went from there.  We had already decided we wanted to use my husband's grandfather's name since it was a family name, from there we just knew we wanted a known but uncommon name.  For our son we chose Vincent Michael Arnold (Arnold being the family name).  We'd had two names chosen.  One boy and one girl (just in case).  We had found out his sex, but dr's have been wrong before.  Shortly after we had my son, I found out I was pregnant with our daughter.  We were unable to determine the sex before she was born, so we set out on finding a new set of names.  We tried very hard to find a set all her own, but kept falling back to the girl name we had picked for my son.  So we decided to concentrate mainly on the boy name.  We never found another boy name not quite right... Luckily she was a girl and we had a beautiful name for her.  Melody Olivia McKay.  It follows the same rule as our son's.  Familiar but not common.  And even though we were not supposed to have any children, we had two beautiful and healthy children that will soon be 3 and 4 years old. 

I named my Son Kymani and my daughter Kallie. I always get flack for my son's name.
