The majority of religiously based view points are, or cause, the broken records you describe by spewing the same empty rhetoric over and over. This seems to be true in most all the heavily debated threads, regardless of subject matter. By contrast, most opposing views in those threads do offer much of the intellectual content you claim to be lacking.
I could be bias in the above observation due to my atheist views, but from what I hope to be a purely logical standpoint it's readily apparent that the most intellectual statements I've had the privilege to read are expressed from a non theist standpoint. (wow, longest sentence ever.)
