Umbrella Floral Arrangement

Posted by Ashworth College on Jun 12, 2012 5:12:53 PM

Springtime means flowers are in bloom and rain is falling down.  The combination of the two can make for a great floral arrangement that is perfect to give as a gift or hang from your door to celebrate the warm weather.  As those in floral design school will tell you, it's not just what kinds of flowers you use, but what container you present them in.

For a fun spring and summer bouquet idea, gather up your favorite brightly colored flowers and arrange them how you like them.  Take a fun umbrella (the long, pointy ones work best) and flip it upside down so the handle part is on top.  Let the bottom of the umbrella become like a vase and put your bouquet inside.  This works best if the stems are still long or you put foam or other filler at the bottom to keep the flowers from falling down inside the umbrella.  Tie a cute ribbon in place to cinch the bottom.  To truly make your flowers last, insert the bottom of the stems in ziplock bags full of water before putting them in the umbrella.  If the bag bursts don't worry - the umbrella is waterproof.

Would you make this?
