Hi, I'm Lisa. Im a new student here, Just wanted to say hello to my fellow students/faculty. I've been working in the Floral Department in a grocery store for about three years now and I am loving working with the flowers! I grew up working in my grandma's garden every weekend, but I didnt dicover my passion until I began to work in the Floral Department. I am enjoying the lessons very much. However, I would love to attend workshops in my area so I can also get hands on experience (with new trends especially). Until I find something I am utilizing youtube and everything at work.not only to practice, but also to help/force me to think out of the box. I can already see the difference..mostly in corsages and arrangements. Thank you Ashworth for making it easy for me to have an opportunity to further my floral education

Did you know you had a flowers for your birth month? It is said that all months represents a certain flowers. Just like a zodiac sign. What's yours?

January - The Carnation

February - Violet

March - Daffodil

April - Daisy

May - Lily

August - Dahlia

September - Aster

October - Calendula

November - Chrysanthemum

Mail-in assignments?

I am really confused about where I mail in my tests IF I mail in my tests.

1. I have seen another student comment in the Floral Design Group about mailing in her tests after submitting them online.

2. I have posed a question about taking the test and submitting it online and learned that a) I am supposed to submit tests online and b) I am supposed to mail in my tests.

3. I have posed the question about where to mail them and the response I got was that I needed to call to get the address.

4. I called today and was told that because I do the tests online, I do not have to mail them in.

5. My lessons frequently remind me to submit the test and mail in my responses to the tests.

I need official word here:

1. Do I need to mail in my tests after submitting them online?

2. If so, where do I mail them? If not, could I get that official word in writing as it conflicts with what my Lesson 1 book repeatedly says to do?

Thanks! I just want to do it correctly!

Have you ever told your mate that you don't want flowers? I have personally said I don't need flowers, but whenever I receive them I feel so special. Why do we do this? Yes I would much rather have chocolates, but I love flowers once I receive them. I think the best part of getting flowers is what it symbolizes. Have you ever said this but really didn't mean it, or do you really hate flowers? If so, why?

Dried Flowers?

I went into a dried flower shop last weekend and loved what I saw. I deciced I want to attempt to dry flowers on my own. I researched a little online. Anyone have experience with this and have an suggestions? So far I have hung some wax flowers and daisys in a dark closet. I have no idea how long this should take. I also placed a few flower heads in silica gel.

I got the driftwood sticks from the shoreline by the river. They caught my eye and I knew I had to use them in a design somehow. I figured the cattail went well with them.
