I learned about Ashworth through a direct mailing I received a few weeks after I lost my job. I wanted to get additional training in human resources, but thought that this couldn’t happen because of my unemployment situation. But I was wrong! The Ashworth College Associate of Science in Human Resource Management program was very affordable and had a relevant sequence of courses. I knew that I would someday be in a supervisory position within my profession of librarianship and wanted to be able to handle these responsibilities with more knowledge and confidence.
Just 11 months after beginning the program, I found myself serving as Interim Director of Library Services at my new job. After only being there 3 months, I had to call on all of my knowledge gained to date, but I was perfectly equipped to handle the duties. Ashworth’s courses on personal finance and business mathematics have continued to be applicable to my life. Many of my peers, friends, and associates did not realize that distance education was so rigorous and beneficial. This is not a diploma mill. I had to study diligently to earn my Ashworth degree and it now proudly sits in my room…on the same level as my Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill. I have continued to recommend Ashworth College to people that are dedicated enough to pursue distance education and want an affordable alternative.
