Well I PCS to Korea, ummm almost 7mths ago. It was hard on me with my kids flying back and forth (Italy States then here) with newborn. To top it all off, no internet! Sssssssooooo no way to sign in and turn in work. I got here took a while for a house, I think almost two weeks not too long, then I had surgery shortly after I got my tooth pulled. Then came my internet by then my MYCAA was locked and I was counted as inactive I had to call the school to get things straaighten out then MyCaa... NOW I'm patiently waiting on my books. Now before I was like I just wanted my Associates but after a scare of thinking I wasn't going to be able to even finish what I started I want  my full four years maybe more. Education is very important and should be taken for graant even you dont know what you really want to do. You always start with an  Associates in General Studies til you figure it out. Don't give up on yourself and give yourself the short end of the stick.

As a Military wife/mother, it is hard and its even harder being online student!  I wish that it was alot easier and I can say that ASHWORTH is a little easier as a online school goes. But I am in Korea and it would be good to have study buddy or skype study with ppl that ARE Ashworth students but hey maybe that's justme. Or maybe they all ready do and I know nothing about it. Just my little rant of tnhe night/day.

Ashworth College was proud to be a sponsor of Army Wife Network's recent Field Exercise seminar at Ft. Gordon, February 29-March 1, 2012.

Field Exercise™ is a grassroots seminar series created by Army Wife Network (AWN) as a way to empower and rejuvenate military families. Attendees are able to network with other families and to receive information for becoming successful both in the military and in life. AWN hosts these events throughout the year, rotating among posts.

"Education plays a major role in the lives of military spouses and they are aware of how it can make a significant difference in their careers and the family’s well-being," said Rodney Butler, U.S. Army First Sergeant, Retired and Ashworth College Military Education Coordinator. “As a sponsor of the Field Exercise series we can talk with spouses one-on-one and show them how attainable an online education can be – both in terms of affordability and in the flexibility to meet the demands of the military lifestyle”.

SVA will be hiring roughly 10 student veterans as part time fellows to do local outreach. The position pays $10,000 for 6 months of work and requires roughly 20 hours per week. Please spread the word to others in your chapter if they are interested in applying. The deadline is March 1 and you must apply at www.missioncontinues.org and say you want a fellowship with SVA. Good luck!

I met my husband of 28 years on Fort Hood Texas.  We dressed in all gear when in the field.  When he first met me, he thought I was a boy!  LOL

As we remember the 10th anniversary of the tragic events of September 11, 2001, I think about the sacrifices of our men and women in uniform, their families, and our veterans. You all have made the most significant, and too often your loved ones have made the ultimate, sacrifices of all the citizens of this country. As a veteran of our current wars, on behalf of Ashworth College, I am humbled by your service to our nation and your continued patriotism and allegiance to our great nation- I salute you.

Respectfully,

Rodney Butler

First Sergeant, U.S. Army Retired
